Christmas Tree Collection Event - January 8, 2022

The Klickitat County Solid Waste Department, Republic Services, Dirt Hugger, Washington Department of Ecology and Columbia High School are partnering to host a Christmas tree collection event as part of the goal of reducing waste in Klickitat County. Trees and other yard waste are a great source of compost. Dirt Hugger is a composting facility located in Klickitat County in Dallesport. They will take the Christmas trees and utilize them with their other materials to create nutrient-rich compost.

The event is FREE for county residents. Donations will be accepted at the event and will go directly to Columbia High School for the volunteer hours spent hosting the event. All donations go towards school programs.

No artificial trees, no tinsel, no ornaments and no other yard waste will be accepted at the event. The collection event is specifically for Christmas trees.
