White Salmon Declares Emergency Ban of Fireworks

Due to an unprecedented heat wave and no significant relief from such conditions before the upcoming holiday weekend, under WSMC 8.20.050 the Mayor has declared an emergency and issued an order imposing a ban on the use of fireworks within White Salmon city limits for Sunday, July 4, 2021.

Current conditions present a very real, immediate threat of fire, and strong wind gusts are expected later this week. The city encourages all individuals and businesses to refrain from any and all activities that could cause sparks or flame: don’t flick cigarette butts out of windows, watch lawn mowers for sparks, check safety tow chains on trailers, and avoid parking on grassy areas—catalytic converters under cars can get really hot and start fires.

The Port of Klickitat will be allowing residents to safely discharge fireworks at Bingen Point from 8pm to 11pm this Sunday, July 4. For more information on the event visit the Port's web site at www.portofklickitat.com. The discharge of fireworks on public property is not allowed except in that area designated by the Port of Klickitat.

This situational ban on fireworks within White Salmon city limits is only in effect for July 4, 2021 from 9a-11pm. Fireworks are otherwise prohibited in city limits except for the annual days of December 31 and July 4.
