Mountain Biking
From wide and gentle gravel roads to narrow, steep tracks through dense woods, you can find literally hundreds of busy to solitary mountain biking trails throughout the area. The nearby Syncline area, laced with trails of all difficulty levels, boasts cozy little ravines and spectacular wide-open vistas of the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood. Tracks above Skyline Hospital are always challenging and the Welden Wagon Trail offers a well-worn steady incline.
In the Spring the open slopes are blanketed in wildflowers and crossed by cascading ribbons of water. In mid-summer the forested trails provide some protection from the intense sun and winds that the area is famed for.
Along the way you're liable to encounter other bikers and hikers, often with their dogs. Groups in the area work closely with public and private landowners to keep these areas open to multiple use. So please be safe, responsible, courtious and cordial so we can all continue to share these spectacular wonders.
